Upcoming Jewelry Making Classes

 

The Gift of Jewelry

This 3-hour, 2-day course will allow you to design and create a special, one-of-a-kind, Sterling Silver and/or copper piece of jewelry. The first day will be an introduction to the tools and strategy, design, and starting to fabricate. The second day students will complete fabrication, set stones (if there are any), and polishing. This is essentially an open studio, where you have access to the tools and instructor with the freedom to create your own, unique piece of jewelry.

$TBD for a 6-hour class. $40 basic materials fee. BYO stones or stones and additional materials will be available for purchased during the class.

March 9th & 10th, 5-8pm

Precious Metal Clay

PMC is a fun medium that allows you to achieve clay-like features (texture and form) with a fine silver finish. In this 3-hour, 2-day class, students can make as many pieces of jewelry that they can get out of their 25 grams pack of PMC. The first class will be an introduction, design, and sculpting. The second class will be sanding, firing and polishing after the clay has hardened.

$100 for a 6-hour class. $175 materials fee

Beginner Silver Soldering –Spinner Rings

Making ring bands is a great way to learn silver soldering basics. You will have a choice of making a set of stacking rings, a personalized ring and a small stacking ring, or a spinner ring. Students will learn about cutting, texturing, stamping, and soldering Sterling Silver.

$75 for a 3-hour class. $25 materials fee.

April 7th, 5-8pm

 

Beginner Silver Soldering – Chain-style earrings

Fabricate a pair of your chain-style Sterling Silver earrings. Chain-style earrings go with every outfit, for any occasion. They are lightweight, comfortable, and fun to make! Students will learn about sawing and texturing Sterling Silver and will also learn how to attach multiple pieces of metal together. Recommend taking the Stacking Rings class first, but not necessary.

$75 for a 3-hour class. $12 materials fee.

April 8th, 5-8pm

 

Beginner Silver Soldering – Make a bezel pendant

During this 4-hour workshop you will learn how to create your own bezel set Sterling Silver pendant. There will be a black obsidian cabochon provided for this project. Students will learn how to saw, texture, stamp and solder multiple pieces of metal together. This kind of project requires developed skills that get better with practice. For a better-looking outcome with fewer frustrations, taking the Stacking Rings and Chain-style Earrings classes first is recommended, but not necessary.

$100 for a 4-hour class. $35 materials fee

Serious Smither – 6-week Metalsmithing

Are you looking for a great activity to occupy your Friday nights? This 6-session class will help students develop crucial metalsmithing/silversmithing techniques. Projects are as followed: Day 1 – Fold Form Earrings (copper), Day 2 – Tension Hoop Earrings (Brass), Day 3 – Chain-Style Ring (Sterling), Day 4 – Bezel Set Pendant with Back Plate Design (copper), Day 5 - Raised Bezel Ring (Brass & Silver), Day 6 – Prong-style pendant (sterling). Students are encouraged to experiment with original designs, creative textures, different metal combinations, and patinas.

$TBD for an 18-hour class. $100 materials fee.

March 13th, 20th, 27th, April 3rd, 10th, 17th from 5-8pm

 

Host a Private Jewelry Class

Do you love the idea of this class, and want to have a private jewelry making party with 4-5 of your crafty friends? Hosts receive free tuition for this 4-hour class. All you have to do is provide the well-ventilated and well-lit venue, refreshments, and friends!

$75 per student, limit 6 students per class

$30 basic materials fee. BYO stones or stones and additional materials may be purchased during the class.
